The Election Commission of India (EC) has announced that it will hold a press conference at 3 pm today to unveil the schedule for the upcoming "General Election to Legislative Assemblies."
While the EC has not officially named the states where elections will be held, it is widely anticipated that the announcement will pertain to Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir as the officials from the election commission recently held a visit to the two places to oversee the poll preparedness.
About the assembly elections
The Haryana Legislative Assembly's term is set to end in November, necessitating elections before that date. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir have been without an elected assembly for five years. A Supreme Court judgment has mandated that elections in the Union Territory must be held by September 30, 2024
