Apple Details the Chargers Needed for Fastest iPhone Duo Charging

Apple's support guidance says iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent in about 20 minutes over a wire, or about 30 minutes wirelessly, but only with the right accessories.

Apple says the iPhone Duo supports fast charging over both wired and wireless connections, but the headline speeds depend on pairing the phone with suitable accessories. The company's support documentation spells out which cables and power adapters are required.

For wired charging, Apple says the device can climb to 50 percent battery in roughly 20 minutes. Reaching that speed requires the USB-C cable included in the box, plus a compatible power adapter.

Apple names its own 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max as one option, which was listed at $34 at the time of the report. Buyers can also choose a third-party adapter rated for 60W or more. Apple's guidance says such a charger must use Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS) and support USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) 3.2.

Wireless charging is slower, though still quick by Apple's account. The company says the iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent in about 30 minutes wirelessly. For that, users need either a MagSafe Charger, listed at $30, or an adapter rated at 35W or higher. Apple's guidance points to compatible Apple and Anker adapters.

9to5Mac's author notes that third-party chargers are often better value than Apple's own power adapters. Their top pick is Anker's 100W charging brick, which they say works well not only with iPhones but also with more power-hungry Macs and iPads.

The writer added that Apple's 40W Dynamic Power Adapter, at its reduced price, is still a good deal for anyone who prefers a first-party option.

People who want more reach than the cable in the box provides can also look at Apple's official 2-meter USB-C cable, which the article says is available at a discount.

The article closes by asking readers to share their own iPhone fast-charging setups in the comments.
