Amazon and Uber launched a new benefit for Prime members in the United States on Friday, eliminating delivery fees for restaurant orders totaling $25 or more. The change allows subscribers to order food directly through Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app without downloading the Uber Eats application or providing new login credentials.
The service is now available to Prime customers in nearly 10,000 cities and localities across the country. The network includes hundreds of thousands of restaurants, ranging from national chains to independent local businesses. Prime members can access the feature by visiting amazon.com/ubereats or searching for "Uber Eats" within the Amazon Shopping app.
Users log in with their standard Amazon credentials to view available restaurants in their area. Payments process through methods already saved to their Amazon accounts. After confirming an order, Amazon sends status updates via email and its mobile app. Uber Eats provides a final order confirmation separately.
The benefit applies to all Prime tiers, including reduced-price memberships such as Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access. Coverage spans major metropolitan areas like Boston, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, as well as suburban and rural communities including Oak Park, Illinois; Daphne, Alabama; Boardman, Oregon; and Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Restaurant availability and delivery times vary by specific address.
Customers can order from popular chains such as Wingstop, Chipotle, and Sweetgreen, alongside regional establishments like Aga’s Restaurant in Houston and Papalote Mexican Grill in San Francisco. Small local shops are also included in the network. The free delivery perk applies to eligible orders of $25 or more, though other charges, taxes, or tips may still apply to individual orders.
Amazon introduced launch promotions for the first 14 days. Prime members can receive a $20 discount on each of their first two eligible Uber Eats orders, provided each purchase meets the $25 minimum. Holders of the Prime Visa card will earn a 5% cash back on all Uber Eats orders through December 5, 2026. Amazon estimates these combined offers could save members more than $175 annually, depending on usage patterns.
Jamil Ghani, global vice president of Amazon Prime, stated that the partnership adds restaurant delivery to the existing benefits of fast shipping and entertainment. Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer of Uber, said the integration aims to make ordering food as simple as making other purchases through Amazon. This new service operates alongside Amazon Grocery, which offers same-day delivery for perishable items over $25 in specific areas.
The alliance expands the scope of the Prime subscription by incorporating food delivery into the platform. For Uber, the deal creates a new channel to connect partner restaurants with consumers. The service distinguishes itself from Amazon’s grocery delivery by focusing specifically on restaurant meals rather than supermarket goods.
