Kaylee Cox recently returned to her hometown of Flower Mound, marking a significant moment for the local volleyball community. The professional outside hitter for the Dallas Pulse attended a varsity match against Hebron on Oct. 20. This visit allowed her to reconnect with former coaches and teachers while watching the current team compete. Cox's presence highlighted her journey from a high school player to a professional athlete who has won a major league championship.
Cox helped Flower Mound High School secure its first Class 6A state volleyball title in 2018. That victory remains her favorite memory from her high school career. She described the team as a young group that entered the season as an underdog. Despite the odds, the players worked hard every day to reach the final. Cox noted that the program continues to thrive under the leadership of Head Coach Jamie Siegel.
Since her high school days, Cox has played college volleyball at Western Kentucky University and the University of Missouri. She is currently a 6-foot-3 outside hitter for the Dallas Pulse. Her return to the high school court was an opportunity to encourage the next generation of players. She hopes they realize that achieving professional success is possible. Cox shared that she never imagined she would play at such a high level, yet she was able to make her dreams come true.
The timing of her visit coincided with a major achievement for her professional team. The Dallas Pulse won the Major League Volleyball championship in its inaugural season. The team also claimed a $1 million prize for this victory. As the 2027 campaign approaches, the team is preparing to return to the Frisco area with a title to defend. Cox expressed excitement about the opportunity for new fans to witness high-level volleyball.
The team announced its 13-game home schedule on Oct. 30. Single-game tickets for the 2027 season go on sale on Nov. 4. The regular season will open on Jan. 8 against the Atlanta Vibe. The home games will be held at Comerica Center in Frisco. The schedule includes matches against teams such as the Omaha Supernovas, Orlando Valkyries, and Minnesota Forge throughout the winter and spring months.
Head Coach Shannon Winzer will return for her second season with the Pulse. She will be joined by new assistant coaches Jamille Torres and Robert Poole. Cox is one of three returning players on the roster. She will play alongside opposite hitter Kelsie Payne and middle blocker Layne Van Buskirk. The 2027 roster will also feature international talent and other athletes with professional experience. Cox is looking forward to meeting her new teammates and coaches.
With a new group forming, the team faces the challenge of improving on last year's success. Cox emphasized the importance of consistent effort during practice sessions. She advised the team not to take any practice for granted. The goal for the upcoming season is to compete for the title again and reach the championship match. Fans can find ticket information and roster updates on the Dallas Pulse website.
Before the season begins, the team will participate in the 2027 MLV Draft on Nov. 23. The organization will also introduce its official mascot in December. These events will help build excitement for the upcoming campaign. Cox's visit to Flower Mound served as a bridge between her past and the team's future. It reinforced the strong connection between the professional league and the local volleyball community.
