The Ravens are back at practice in Owings Mills after dropping two divisional games in a row, and Lamar Jackson is working with the team again. Jackson took the field Wednesday and was listed as a full participant. His left ankle was taped, but he moved and threw without apparent issue during the portion of practice reporters observed. It is the first time he has practiced since sitting out the last three and a half games.
Head coach Jesse Minter said he has more reason to think Jackson can play. "I think the more you're able to do and respond from and feel from certainly raises your optimism," Minter said. "But again, we'll kind of see how it goes throughout the week." Minter did not say when he expects to make a final call on Jackson's status. Baltimore will know more later in the week. The team plays Buffalo next, and the Bills come off a bye week.
The Ravens have not had Jackson for their last two losses. Running back Derrick Henry said he does not treat that as an explanation for the offense's production, which has been weakest in the second half. "I don't really try to look at it as an excuse, not having Lamar," Henry said. "I just have to play better. I have to be better, and that's what it comes down to, me doing my job effectively, every single play, and it just hasn't been up to that standard." Henry said he expects the offense to produce. "But I know what I'm capable of," Henry said. "I know the work that I put in, and I know the work we put in collectively as an offense that it will happen."
After Baltimore lost its lead against Cincinnati, Minter and veteran players said the team let the swing in momentum affect how it played. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley said the team has to hold its approach when the game turns. "It makes a big difference, because you can't let the things happening on the field dictate how you're going to play, or the emotions you're going to go into that drive with," Stanley said. "I think some of that happened a little bit, where we're letting other things dictate how we're playing and the type of football that we're playing." The Ravens play the Bills next, and Jackson's status will be decided later in the week.
