The Rockaway Times logged more than three million views on its Instagram and Facebook pages in the 30 days ending October 20.

That total averages over 100,000 views per day. Talking Glass Media, an independent hyper-local news account, typically receives between 5,000 and 25,000 daily views across its platforms. Nine posts from the newspaper exceeded 100,000 views during the period.

Storm coverage generated the most engagement. A post about flood waters during a major nor'easter earned more than 400,000 views and nearly 5,000 interactions. Content featuring a rainbow and large waves before the storm accumulated more than 26,000 combined interactions.

An October 17 post containing a table of Catholic high school options surpassed 250,000 views. The publication noted that the post continues to gain views and comments. Crime stories also performed well, with a report on the death of Malakai Adams receiving more than 300 comments, primarily condolences and prayer emojis.

A link to an article titled "St. James to Take over MTA Storefronts on Beach 116th Street" by Kailey Aiken recorded the highest click count, with more than 1,700 clicks. The newspaper currently has 60,000 Facebook followers and 27,000 Instagram followers.

The Rockaway Times accepts a limited number of sponsored posts to support its mission of helping local businesses thrive. The outlet stated that excessive advertising would negatively impact the experience for its followers.
