WYPR released a new on-air challenge on Sunday, November 1. The puzzle consists of 13 questions where every answer is a two-word name for a location in the United States. The format requires that the initial letters of the provided clues match the initial letters of the correct location name.
The list of clues includes Northeast Haven and Pioneers' Pinnacle. It also features Storied Fire, Molten Lava, and Oil Capital. Other items in the set are Lotsa Vacationers, Newlyweds' Favorite, and Dry (very!). The final three clues are Hydroelectric Development, Port Honolulu, and Engineered Channel. One answer requires three words and is described as Minnesota's Sizable Population.
The station also published last week's challenge. That question asked listeners to identify two well-known companies whose logos start with lowercase letters and contain a capital B. The correct answers were eBay and jetBlue. Deborah Freedman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was named the winner for that segment.
A new challenge is also open for submission. Listeners must identify a three-letter part of the human body. This element is inserted into a four-letter part of the body to create a brand name found in supermarkets. The puzzle asks for the specific names involved in this word combination.
The deadline to submit answers is 3 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 5. Participants must include a phone number so the station can reach them. Those selected for the on-air puzzle win a chance to play live.
The copyright for the material is held by NPR for the 2026 broadcast cycle.
