Households facing high costs will see new data on employment and corporate performance this week. The release arrives just before voters cast ballots in the November 3 midterm elections.

Inflation has squeezed family budgets, yet the jobs market has held steady. Several reports scheduled for this week will detail how that resilience is changing.

The Labor Department releases the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey on Tuesday. This September report breaks down openings and layoffs in healthcare, retail, and manufacturing. Economists expect the numbers to show a slight increase in available jobs, continuing a stable trend seen throughout the year.

More federal data follows later in the week. The Department of Labor publishes weekly unemployment claims on Thursday. A monthly employment report drops on Friday, detailing hiring by employers across various sectors during October.

Corporate earnings round out the schedule. Clorox, a maker of household cleaning products, reports on Monday. Advanced Micro Devices and Super Micro Computer share results on Tuesday. Booking Holdings also reports on Tuesday, with Expedia following on Wednesday. Tapestry and Ralph Lauren release their financial results on Thursday. Nearly half of the S&P 500 companies have already shared their latest figures.
