Konotop, a city in Sumy Oblast, has operated without electricity for four consecutive days following Russian attacks. The blackout began on the night of October 23 and 24 when a large-scale drone offensive targeted the municipality.

Artem Semenikhin, the mayor of Konotop, confirmed to Suspilne and on Telegram that the city remains dark as of the night of October 26. He reported that most of the urban area has also lost its gas supply. Educational institutions sustained damage, and the local hospital now relies on generators to maintain operations.

"The city has no electricity and most of it has no gas," Semenikhin said. He noted that water is delivered on a strict schedule, available only from 06:00 to 09:00 and again from 18:00 to 21:00.

The regional power distribution company, Sumyoblenergo, stated that emergency repair crews are working around the clock. The company indicated that the timeline for restoration depends on the security situation and whether crews can safely access the damaged sites.

Semenikhin emphasized the uncertainty of the recovery process. "Unfortunately, there are no forecasts for when power will be restored. No forecasts at all," he wrote.

The initial strike occurred after 03:00 on October 24. Russian drones hit energy facilities, a school, and residential houses, causing the widespread power outage. On the afternoon of the same day, a separate drone struck a civilian agricultural business in the district. A 31-year-old farm worker died in that attack, and four other people were injured.
