NFL: Baltimore Ravens Acquire Jacoby Brissett Amid Quarterback Crisis
The trade secures a starting option for the 4-4 team while Lamar Jackson undergoes season-ending surgery.

The Baltimore Ravens are finalizing a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for quarterback Jacoby Brissett. The move addresses a sudden depth chart collapse that has left the 4-4 team without a healthy starter for its upcoming Thursday Night Football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Lamar Jackson, who returned to the lineup last week against the Buffalo Bills, exited after a single play due to a thumb injury. He has been placed on injured reserve and is facing potential season-ending surgery. Backup Tyler Huntley, who served as the interim starter, is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a turf-toe injury.
Brissett, 33, will become the eighth team in his career. He was demoted to the Cardinals' third quarterback earlier this week after being benched for Gardner Minshew. That decision followed a 33-30 comeback victory over the Dallas Cowboys. The veteran spent most of the current training camp in a contract dispute before agreeing to a reworked deal that guarantees a $15.5 million base salary.
Because the trade is not expected to be completed in time for the Week 9 matchup, third-stringer Joe Fagnano will start for Baltimore. The Ravens currently hold the final position in the AFC North. Brissett has completed 193 of 305 passes for 1,719 yards, 10 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in eight starts this season. He also recorded 87 rushing yards and one rushing score.
The signal-caller has previously played for the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Washington Commanders. His arrival stabilizes the offense while the team evaluates long-term options for the position.
